Bio

Paul Pak-hing Lee is an artist living and working in the United States. He was born in Hong Kong and spent his early childhood in Macau. He earned his M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, an A.B. from Hamilton College, New York and an International Baccalaureate from the United World College of the Atlantic, Llantwit Major, Wales.

Paul Lee’s work has been included in group and solo exhibitions in galleries and museums in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, San Antonio, Nashville, Geneva, Istanbul, Singapore and Vladivostok, Russia.

Lee was the recipient of many grants and awards, including a National Endowment for the Humanities Senior Research Fellowship to China and two Rockefeller Foundation Travel Grants. He also received artist residencies from the New York State Council on the Arts, The Brandywine Workshop in Philadelphia and the Universidade de São José in Macau.

Paul Lee has over 35 years of teaching experience at the university level. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Tennessee School of Art. He taught classes in digital and film photography. In addition to teaching in the US he has held visiting professorships at universities in China and Macau.
